New & On Sale - Teddie Bear Tea Party

I love old teddy bears. Some ooze love and some sadness. They are the bearers of childhood dreams, happiness and sorrow. They have stories to tell and secrets to keep. They are our cherished friends. Winthrope, my old Steiff teddy, still remains in my house today. He now presides over Jason's bedroom but he still my friend and still brings a smile to my face and warmth to my heart.

Teddy Bear Tea Party and Alpha is on sale until Wednesday, June  2.

Here is some stunning inspiration from my amazing CT.

2 New Designers @ DeviantScrap.com

I know this is my personal blog but sometimes I just have to break my own rules and share DS news. I am so happy to announce that two new designers have joined us at DeviantScrap!!

First off is Clementine Howell of Clementine Designs. Clementine has such a unique and creative perspective. She is a fresh, unique voice in the scrapping world, as I am sure you will agree. I am so happy she has joined us!!

Artist Bio:

If you’re looking for Clementine Howell, she can  usually be found trekking around the beautiful mountains of Idaho,  trusty camera in tow. She makes her home near a tiny little burg full  of lively characters and lovely scenery, and takes her inspiration from  the everyday beauty that she sees all around her, from the misspelled  cracked sign barely hangin’ on a chain link fence to the creaky  ramshackle country market where she bought penny candy as a girl. Her  diverse body of work, from Artisan Jewelry to Digital Art Kits,  incorporates her ‘Found’ treasures, and reflects her love of the  imperfect, the tattered, the grungy, and the real. Her incredible talent  and her willingness to experiment allow her to create something utterly  lovely, and uniquely ‘Clementine’ out of that reality, and pass it  along to all of us. She surrounds herself with fabulously unique  artistic influences, including the epic talent of Lorie Davison and  partner, a lovable menagerie of furry friends, and her oft present  rambunctious crew of kiddos. Her boundless love of life and art comes  thru in each and every gloriously quirky creation that she puts out into  the world.

Clementine's first kit at DS is called Tommy Town. It is a wonderful ode to her grandson, Tommy. This kit is jam packed with all kinds of goodies, sure to make any child's imagination run wild. Be sure to check out her Freebie Add-on in the shop. It's available for 3 days only!

Our next new designer is Nancy Baumiller of Crowabout StudioB. Nancy is a long time mixed media artist. Her creative view is funky, fresh and wild. Her work just sings with happiness.

Artist Bio

Nancy Baumiller grew up in a small town in the Northwest, in Yakima Washington State, also known as the ‘Evergreen State’. She had resided there for 36 years, when she met her soul mate and moved to Tennessee, a very long way from home.  Nancy is a mother to 5 wonderful children, 3 wonderful step-children and a grandmother to two lovely grandbabies.

Nancy has always been immersed in the world of art and has been creating art ever since she could first hold a crayon. About 5 years ago, she discovered mixed media collage art and art journaling. A new passion was immediately born and she now has many, many colorful art journals and has large portfolio of art under her belt. Her works have been published numerous times in publications like Somerset Studio. This year, she was contacted by Strathmore Art Papers to be one of their poster children for their new “Visual Journals” line. In addition to her love of pen and paper, Nancy decided to take the leap into digital this year. She loves the flexibility that digital elements give to altered artists. Nancy has taken her unique, zetti style and has translated it into digital. Her fun, irreverent style screams “play with me!!”

Here are a few samples of Nancy's newest goodies.

Shout Out

As we all know, your shadow work can make or break your pages. Proper shadowing is what sells your pages....it's also one of the most challenge techniques to master. Shadow work is an art. It's understanding light sources and the nuances of shadow and light. Sound complex and daunting? Not really, once you understand the foundations of it. Miss Behaving is a Master of Shadowing. She is now teaching workshops at DeviantScrap.com and will be sharing all her secret tricks. Even if you think you know shadows, I promise you will walk away grateful that you took this class. Art is about learning and expanding your thought process and Miss B's workshops are certain to do that!

Scrappers World Awards

Well, as many of you know, the new owners of DST completely botched up our annual SCA. They turned it into a popularity click fest to drive more traffic to their site without a care if the best of the best really won. They simply turned it into a popularity contest. This turned off and angered a lot of people....myself included. The minute I realized what was happening, I contacted Ripal and we decide that we would set this straight and host our own awards....the proper way! With the help of Darcy, Laura and Stef, we are so pleased to present to you the 2010 SCRAPPERS WORLD AWARDS.  Please stop by and nominate your favorite pages and submit your personal favs.

I would also like to take a minute and thank all the amazing designers who donated gift certificates for the winners. I sent out the call asking for help and literally within minutes my mailbox was filled with offers of gcs. Thank you sooooo much ladies. You are all such amazing and generous souls!

I have some fun new goodies for you this week. I love pads of paper so much. There are so many cool things you can do with them...alter, add photos, paint, journal and so much more. Painted alphas are another favorite of mine and I paln on doing a series of them. I think they always look so cool on layouts. And finally some big bold stripped paper. They lend themselves to lots of different looks and you can do some really fun things with them. A great staple for any stash!
